A Biblical View of Government

Date recorded: 7 Feb 2017 | Speaker: Jonathan Chaplin

Description

Government – at many levels: local, regional, national, international – is an all-pervasive reality of modern societies. Some governments are relatively just and responsive while many are intrusive or oppressive or just out for their own interests. Christians are impacted by governments in many ways, obviously on issues like religious freedom or church-state relations but also on many others.

How should Christians interpret government biblically? What is its assigned role under God? What are its legitimate powers and their limits? How should Christians engage with governments, where they have the freedom to do so? What is ‘Christian citizenship’ in a modern democracy? The webinar will introduce a biblical framework for thinking about these important questions.
