What are the Real Reasons that People Refuse to Believe
Christians with a heart-felt passion for the lost often spend a good deal of time trying to convince their unbelieving friends of the rightness of Christian beliefs. But those of us who have come from Gospel-resistant cultures know that more often than not, our real objections are not matters of the head, but matters of the heart.
Questions like, "How can I believe in light of what so-called Christians have done to us?" and "What will my family, friends and entire community do if I believe?" - These are the types of real questions that lie behind our refusal to believe, even if we know that the gospel is true.
This workshop will examine five "real" and unspoken objections to faith that often lie beneath the screen of theological and intellectual objections. We'll also consider together some ways to raise these real objections to the surface and to deal with them in a sensitive but effective way.
