What Kind of Good News?
Paul the missionary told Timothy the pastor, “Do the work of an evangelist.” (2 Tim. 4:5). At the heart of that work is the clear and simple communication of the Good News. But what kind of good news are we exhorted to proclaim? Is it the good news of self-improvement or societal transformation? People and societies are certainly changed as they are impacted by the gospel, but change is a result of gospel proclamation; it is not the gospel message itself. What must we convey to non-believers in ways that engage their hearts and move them toward repentance and trust in what Jesus did for us through His death and resurrection? How can we keep our focus on the message, and how can we recognize when we’re veering off?
This webinar will consider the gospel message from the four vantage points mentioned by Paul in his letter to the Colossians -- the Good News of rescue, transfer, redemption, and forgiveness.
