Renewing a Congregation through Church Planting Thinking

Renewing a church is very different from planting a new church.  Some would say its easier to begin a new congregation that to renew an existing one.  However, existing churches have a history, a potentially helpful reputation in a given community and a spiritual heritage that can be valuable.  The core principles of renewing a church and beginning a new church have a great deal of similarity.  What can we learn from church planting to help our revitalisation efforts?  What might we be missing?  We'll discuss such issues as leadership, building a team, the fundamentals of congregational life, and context as we consider how to bring new life to an existing congregation.​
