Christian Apologetics: Pitfalls and Pathways to Engaging a Culture of Unbelief

Some Christians aren’t quite sure what to do with apologetics. To some, it is an unbiblical endeavour and an utter compromise of the gospel: it diminishes faith, divine grace, and the role of the Holy Spirit. As it turns out, the strongest opposition to Christian apologetics tends to come from these Christians rather than outsiders to the faith. Yet for others, apologetics is a good thing, but the goal is to beat up people for Jesus; if Christian apologists demolish their intellectual opponents, then they have done their job well. 

We must avoid these extremes and forge a biblical pathway in understanding the true nature of apologetics and how this connects to the gospel. Only then should we engage in this task “with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). In this webinar, we will look at the biblical basis for apologetics—the art and science of defending the Christian faith—and we will examine an array of pathways the apologist can take in giving a reason for the hope that lies within. We will also explore some common objections to the faith and offer responses to them.
