Here I Stand - The Protest That Changed the World and Saved the Church

Date recorded: 6 Apr 2017 | Speaker: Daryl McCarthy

Description

The Reformation is a fascinating story of God using the most unlikely individuals in the most unlikely places in the most unlikely ways to launch a movement that galvanized the Church, changed the world and launched a global expansion of vital Christianity.  Your world is different today because of what happened 500 years ago.  Your church is different today because of what happened 500 years ago.

2017 is the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.  On October 31, 1517, a Catholic monk, Martin Luther, nailed a document to the door of the church in Wittenberg, Germany.  Never has an announcement on a church bulletin board caused such havoc.  God used Luther, a university professor, along with others, to launch a movement that quickly swept across Europe, a movement which even today shapes our theology, our worship, our evangelism, our work, and our worldview.  The Protestant Reformation radically changed history as it transformed education, language, politics, government, the economy, the family, and certainly the culture.

In this webinar we will look at what happened at the Reformation.  What were the key issues at stake?  How did the Reformation change the world politically, socially, culturally, theologically, and economically?   Most importantly, what lessons can we learn for today?
