What Made the Early Church so Outspoken and Effective?
What made the early church so outspoken and effective? A look at the passions and principles that motivated the early believers’ witness.
Writing to the church in Rome, the Apostle Paul thanked the believers for their zeal because, “your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world” (Romans 1:8). This forthright declaration of the gospel message wasn’t an isolated phenomenon, found only among the believers in Rome. For we’re told that, even earlier, those who were scattered because of the persecution arising from Stephen’s death “made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch,” proclaiming the Good News first to their fellow Jews and then to non-Jews as well (Acts 11:19-21).
What motivated these early believers to proclaim their faith with such a courageous zeal and to such a far reaching extent? What compelled them to speak openly of the Lord, often in the midst of dire circumstances and in the face of great risk?
This webinar will explore the scriptural principles that fueled the first disciples’ passion for open proclamation. We’ll also consider how we may be motivated by those same principles in the hope that our witness might have an impact far and wide.
